LE TEMPS

A young graphic design graduate has opened a stall with handicrafts to offer. It is also possible to enjoy a coffee and admire the works of local designers.

If you are looking for gifts that stand out from the crowd, this seems to be the place to go. Graphic T-shirts, unique clutches, original tableware, jewellery and many other objects are highlighted in this pretty Nyon shop. "I wanted to put forward artists and craftsmen, most of them local", explains Lancelot von Erlach, 28, a graphic design graduate and manager.
The Lozart experience

And the young man knows the art world well. He co-founded the Lozart association in Lausanne, which aims to promote art in French-speaking Switzerland. In the shop, works of art are also displayed on the walls. They change every two months. This day, paintings in red, white and grey shades that mix abstracts and Keith Haring-style characters. This is the work of Casual Milk, the result of a collaboration between two artists from Western Switzerland, Malik Sobgoui and Lucas Behrend. Lancelot von Erlach found these artists "partly through the Lozart association, and partly on Instagram."

As you walk around the shop, you discover the pretty pouches made by an artist from Sainte-Croix (VD) from jute fabric. Then there are the original plates by the French-speaking artisans of Labo de Piwi, who "find objects and rework them artistically", explains Lancelot von Erlach. Or the patterned T-shirts made by a Swiss trio called Respect Cheese. On a shelf, one also comes across handmade jewellery from India, made from recycled fabric. "But I hope that one day we'll be 100% local," says the manager.

In between shopping, you can also sit at a small bar and enjoy a Swiss-roasted coffee, which can also be bought in the shop. And if you prefer tea, no problem! A few blocks away, Lancelot von Erlach's mother, a partner in The Gallery, runs Le Cercle du thé, a shop that also doubles as a tasting room. "We sometimes send customers to each other," smiles the manager.
