Yerba Kraus has been around for around a century, and is grown according to organic farming standards, i.e. without synthetic fertilisers or artificial pesticides.
The drying process used is also a special one, known as "indirect heat". Instead of drying the leaves with hot air coming directly from a fire (as is the case with most yerba maté), a fire is used to heat air that is never in direct contact with the fire, and it is this hot air that dries the leaves. The yerba produced therefore contains no substances derived from the smoke of a fire and has no smoky taste. In Spanish, this drying technique is called "sin humo".
